I originally ordered this item for its beauty. However, when I opened it, I discovered there were no instructions on its use, until I turned it over and stamped on the bottom it stated . . . "HAND WASH ONLY" and "NOT FOR USE IN MICROWAVE". After reading that, I did further research hoping I could use it in the oven, but alas, that idea was also nixed. Since I ordered this for both heating and serving and was unable to do this, it was of little use to me. I contacted Amazon, and explained my concerns, and how it was stated in the description that it was dishwasher safe, when it was not, the person I spoke to, graciously helped with the return process.
If you like the way it looks and are using it for a serving piece only and willing to hand wash this item, this is the perfect item. However, if you need or want to bake, microwave or dishwash, keep on looking!

I searched for weeks for a bowl for sourdough starter. I only want to keep a small amount of starter for personal use, so I didn't want a huge bowl. The bowl also needed to breathe, so it couldn't have an airtight seal. This bowl is the perfect size for the amount of sourdough starter I need to keep on hand with enough room to rise when fed. This is not your traditional bean pot but we thought we would give it a try. First time making beans the pot cracked and we had to return it.
