Regarding the criticism of the spoon being made from two pieces of wood glued together I think OXO has changed its manufacturing process for the better, because the spoon that I own is definitely made from one piece of wood. I would recommend this product to all home cooks and also suggest buying the large and small slotted spoons as well.
Tip: to protect your spoon from cracking, apply some food-grade mineral oil and rub it in all over. Apply once a month or so to keep the wood protected and to prevent it from drying out, and your spoon will last a long time.

I used this spoon one time, to stir a lasagna meat sauce I was making. Washed it. Dried it. Put it on the counter. Came out this morning to find that the spoon part had split, from the tip to about halfway into the spoon. The three cheap wooden spoons I bought for $3.00 (for all three, combined) at the grocery store are still working just fine. While this spoon looks great, I absolutely would never buy it again.

The description says 12 inches. These are actually 8 inches. They are about the length of a standard soup spoon that comes with a set of tableware. They are nicely made, but they are no where near large enough for my intended use. Too cheap to bother returning, but not useful for me.Honest reviews on OXO Good Grips Wooden Spoon
I love the size of this spoon. When I got it, it appeared really dried out. I have only had it two months. Recently, the wood split in two places. Bummer! If you buy this spoon or any of the OXO wooden utensils, I would suggest conditioning them really well before and after usage. I use John Taylor Butcher Block Conditioner, it works great.
