I really have to wonder about the review that says the Wusthof Blade Guard falls off the knife. Certainly not my experience! It slides easily onto my Dexter-Russell Chinese Cleaver (8" x 3 1/4), stays put, doesn't scratch the knife thanks to the velvet lining, protects the edge from damage, and avoids accidental cuts when rummaging in the drawer where I keep the cleaver. What more could anyone expect from this product?

I purchased this blade guard for my electric fillet knife blades. I had trouble keeping the blades loose, it was hard to take the knife on trips because they would cut through bags and keeping them loose dulled the blades. Now I can transport the blades safely and they stay sharp. The guards are tight and do not slip off, I would recommend these blade guards to anyone.

This is a beautiful, well constructed blade guard. It holds my 7 inch Victorinox Santouku knife very securely in the drawer. I also like the smooth red interior felt feel much better than the typical hard plastic blade guard offerings, which would seem to wear down the blade over time (as do knife blocks). The only drawback to this solid product is that there is no way to clean the blade guard. The guard does not open like Victorinox blade guards, so unless your knives are very clean, you will probably have to rinse you knife a every time you take it out of the guard (no big deal for me, because I don't use my Satouku knike all the time). Overall, another fine Wusthof product, just no way of cleaning it.

I almost bought another brand until I read a review left by someone else. These blade guards are simply the best!! The #1 reason these are lined with a soft felt type material which is much kinder to your cutlery than the simple hard plastic walls that you find in every other version. I looked for a long time and these may be the only lined blade guards. Truly worthy the extra few cents.
