Great set of spatulas, but dont make the mistake we did of putting one in the dishwasher. The wood finish got ruined, but a little mineral oil brought it back some life.

I've been wanting this set for some time. I must mention, the actual color seems more like a Burgundy oppose to that salmon-ish "red" as pictured. I prefer this burgundy-ish color, it coordinates better with the PD speckled red pots, so I was pleased either way. The wood handles are really nice and comfortable, I have other PD wood utensils that I only hand wash.I took two stars off for the larger spoonula, the silicone feels less firm than I had expected. It's so thin/flimsy I'm afraid it might eventually rip or tear at the tip. Since they are supposed to be able to withstand some heat, I was hoping to use the larger for counter top cooking (mash potatoes, macaroni & cheese, ground beef, rice, eggs, etc). I can still do that, but I think I'll just stick to scraping cold soft mixtures just to see how they hold up for now. However, I'm still glad I purchased them.

Paula Deen Silicone Spoonula Sets: 10-Inch and 13-Inch Silicone SpatulasThere is nothing that can beat a good spatula for getting the last bits from a bowl. Be it cake batter, icing, brownie mix, bread dough, or a cookie mix. All of that sticky stuff that tastes so good once it's fully cooked. Oh, how I like these spatulas. You used these in the deeper bowls without getting your knuckles injured.
This Paula Deen Signature Collection of spatulas are something no kitchen should be without. The removable silicone heads are dishwasher safe and heat resistant to 500 degrees F. but the wooden handle, made form Acacia wood, needs to be cleaned separately or just hand wash them and forget the dishwasher.
Ergonomically designed to fit the palm comfortably and softly, the wood is designed to fit well in your hand giving you a pressure-absorbing grip to the handles put less tension on the hands, while providing an outstanding grip. If the wood shows a bit of wear use some mineral oil to liven up the wood.

They are great when you want to get the last of the macaroni and cheese from the dish or stubborn lasagna from the edges of the pan, even while it is still hot. The spoon spatula makes a great tool for stirring and scraping, even tasting. The heads do NOT melt when exposed to the hot food. Most of the newer pots and pans come with a non-stick coating and these spatulas work extremely well as they do NOT scratch the coatings. Cake batters don't stand a chance of sticking to the sides of the batter bowl, as you can pretty much clean them out with the spatula before washing. Washing this set of spatulas is a breeze, they come clean with a gentle washing.
You should be well pleased with this set of spatulas as they are superior in design and work as intended. Just like a good seasoned skillet, a kitchen isn't complete without a good set of tools to do the job right.
An epicurean Bon Appetite
