The lid lifter was a a lot easier to maneuver than the tongs, though the magnet picked up two lids once. All in all, a great tool for the few bucks I paid.

I decide not to use it as an all in one tool. It's got a great magnet to lift the lids and bands out of the hot water and works awesome to remove bubbles but I felt using both ends might be counter productive.I was canning some spicy potato soup and noticed that when I would remove the bubbles and then grab for the next lid I saw some juices going into the lid pot, not much mind you but enough to worry me that now I was putting grease on the lid and band after I just cleaned the jar top to make sure no grease or broth was left on the lid. I will admit I did not wipe down the bubble remover end after removing the air from the jars just laid it down on a paper towel so maybe had I wiped it each time it would not have put any broth in my water.
I bought another magnet wand from my local store and absolutely hate the quality so I am ordering another one of these tools so I can have one for the magnet and one for the lids. It also never hurts to have a spare.

As a person who hates to have products that only perform one task, I sure do love this item! I love that I can run the one side around the jar to release the air bubbles, then wipe it on a towel, and stick the magnet in the saucepan to retrieve my lids! Genius! I don't need a kitchen drawer full of utensils just for my canning endeavors!Honest reviews on Victorio VKP1110 Magnetic Canning Lid Lifter and Bubble Remover
I bought this thinking I'd finally found a sturdy, longer-handled replacement for those cheap, short little two-dollar lid lifters, but I hadn't used it for more than three or four batches before the magnet just fell out. By contrast, I've never lost a magnet out of one of the cheap lid lifters, and I do more than 600 jars a year, so they're getting used constantly. Dual-purpose tools are nice, but only when they actually work for both purposes.I'd say stick with a lid lifter like Norpro 606 Magnetic Lid Wand (I use two at the same time to maneuver the lids with more stability -really helps with when they get flipped over!) and use a chopstick to get air bubbles out. This poorly-made tool isn't worth the money.
