These tongs are really pretty and work quite well. The only thing I was disappointed in was that they don't fold flat. I've seen some that when folded backwards, will store easily, folded flat.

I am not sure there is any metal in these at all. They are two grained pieces of acacia hardwood, cleverly notched and some how hinged to one another. The notches in the wood make the implements spring against one another.

I got two at the same time, and I must stress that each piece is individual: some have more grain than the others. But they will make handsome serving implements for salad and some of the more awkward foods that can not easily be served with just one fork or spoon. Acacia is renewable, so consider these green.

My metal tongs will now stay in the kitchen for cooking instead of being added to meat and vegie dishes for serving.
