I have a rotating base block which is next to my primary work area but I needed more slots for a few new knives.
I bought this block because it has three large slots, two small slots, and a large slot for a set of poultry shears which means it had everything I did need, and nothing I did not.
Slot dimensions from top to bottom: 1 @ 2.25", 1 @ 2", 1 @ 1-3/4", 2 @ 1", and 1 shear slot 1" x 5/8"
Lengthwise, the largest slot will accommodate a 9" knife, next two large slots will hold 8" knives, then the two small slots 7" each.

I really like the size of this knife block. It is tall enough to hold a 9-inch bread knife. Very sturdy and made well the bamboo is beautiful.I'm happy with this purchase.
