I have issues with the design of this product. When you place the glass back on top of the carafe, it actually fits inside the top of the carafe (unlike most others I have seen.)
This causes a vacuum at times, especially if there is water on any parts (likely if you've had a sip!) and it makeks it hard to get the glass in place.
Also it was much smaller than I thought it would be. The cup is especially tiny. My fault for not checking the measurements.

The advantage of having the "cup" fit inside is that any remaining water will drip back into the carafe not outside. I use this as a bedside water source so I am not looking for a large drink but a small drink in the night. Just received my water carafe. The quality, size, weight, and functionality are all superb. My only *complaint* (which it really isn't) is that I wish the cup would have been a tad thicker. It's lead-free crystal made in Poland, which is great; I only wish they would have added a bit more to the cup part to make it feel more substantial. As it is now, I'm a bit leary of the thin glass comprising the cup, and try to be very careful with it when I return it to the carafe. I understand they had to make it smaller/thinner so that, inverted, it fits within the carafe, however, I would have gladly paid more for added structure. Love it, and think it will make a GREAT gift for a neighbor's invalid father or anyone who likes to have water handy throughout the house. ok. when i first took it out of the box i thought its really cute, but was annoyed at the sticker placed right on the neck which after 10 minutes of scratching off still left the glue residue. i decided to fill it anyway and turn it around so you can't see that part until i find a way to remove it. i filled it about 2 inches from the top and when i placed the lid/glass part into the carafe the water came pouring out the sides, so when i lifted it back out to take some more water out (this is a very small carafe..only holds about a cup and a half to 2 cups) after emptying it down to past the neck..(you can't fill this for the top 3 inches where the glass fits back inside or as i learned the water will push out the top ) after i did that and was putting the top/glass back in i realised that the first motion i made scratched the carafe at the top and little glass peices were falling off and because it is so very thin there was no way to use it again because glass that's that thin shreds so easily. I was looking for something to keep mouthwash in that wouldn't look tacky on the bathroom counter. This does the job real nice and the fact that the glass fits in the jar is great. It's a nice size too for keeping mouthwash.
