Before I condemn this spatula, I must note that I'm still using several Le Creuset spatulas that I purchased in either 2001 or 2002. They're fine, but the silicone has begun to break down and cooking odors are beginning to cling to them. So, among a couple of others, I purchased this one from Amazon.

The shape is great, but the handle, where it enters the silicone head, is cut down to about half the thickness of the exposed part. About ten strokes into mixing Smucker's All Natural Peanut Butter, the handle snapped at the base of the silicone head. Granted, mixing the separated oil into the rest of the peanut butter can provide a workout for even the strongest of individuals, but I've never broken kitchen equipment doing it!

The design of this spatula's handle is fundamentally flawed; the spot where it's going to be subjected to the most stress is the least robust. Le Creuset needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.

Amazon very graciously refunded the cost of my purchase.

This is a great spoon, I use it all the time for stirring while sauteing or making sauces. It's not really made for flipping items over in the pan and the edge is flimsy so don't get it if that's how you're intending to use it, while you could use it that way occasionally, it just wouldn't be a good as a real spatula.

I cook a great deal and this spatula is Awesome! It was a gift from a houseguest and I didn't realize how much I used it until I realized that I automatically reach for this particular cooking item every time I make a sauce or a roux.

PROS:

The spatula is colorful and quite handsome. It would look great in a utensil jar in your kitchen although I keep mine in a drawer.

The handle feels comfortable in your hand during use. The wood part is 8.5" long and excellent for stirring sauces in a large pot I use a good sized pan on the stovetop so the long handle is appreciated.

The spatula has gone through the dishwasher 5 or 6 times (by mistake) and the wood part has remained smooth. It probably needs to be oiled.

The handle doesn't stain. Tomato sauce just wipes off. It looks as good as when i received it five months ago and I've used it a lot.

The tip is rounded on one end and square shaped on the other great for stirring sauces and cleaning the sides of the cooking pan. If you are in question about what I am trying to say, run over the picture of the spatula (provided by Amazon) and check out the tip. You will see what I mean.

CONS:

This spatula's primary use is for cooking not scraping bowls or mixing batter. Flat spatulas are less expensive and will not stick to the sides of glass bowls etc. Choose your tool of choice for the job it needs to do.

In my opinion, the wooden handle requires hand washing and probably some oil from time to time, but that's personal.

I don't think I need more than one of these spatulas, but I certainly think they are worth the price and they make a wonderful House Gift for a person that enjoys cooking. This spatula could be paired with another smaller sized spatula or a cookbook and would produce a happy hostess (or host).

The grip is ergonomic, but I really was hoping for a tool more similar to the one I have now in the way of functionality. This shiny surface is VERY PRETTY, but also causes TOO MUCH Friction. As a result, when using it on my stainless steel bowl for baking, it sticks to the surface and is very difficult to make one clean sweep of the bowl, instead I get stopped several times and spend more time inefficiently trying to get all of the left over batter... nice try Le Creuset, Maybe stick to the beautiful enameled cast iron you've done so well for almost a century.
