Presto Pressure Cooker Sealing Ring/Automatic Air Vent Pack (3 & 4 Quart) Before ordering a new seal for an old pressure cooker I inherited (It's so old, Noah may have used it on the Ark!), I used Presto's look up tool. I put in the number on the bottom of the cooker and learned the product number for the seal I needed to order. When it arrived, I laid it out next to the cookers' lid. I knew I was in trouble when the gasket had a larger diameter than the lid itself. The neighbors and I spent several hours trying to make it fit (Warm soapy water etc.) without success, It was just too large. Being creative, I cut 1 and 1/2 inches out of the gasket and joined the ends back together with some high temp Form-a-Gasket (Used for automotive thermostats.). My fix worked. But, be warned. The gasket/seal you order may not fit some older cookers.Friday, May 9, 2014
Best Presto Pressure Cooker Sealing Ring/Automatic Air Vent Pack (3 - 4 Deals
If you have an older pressure cooker, bought one on e-bay, or got it from grandma, this is the part that makes it work. The kit contains the gasket ring for the lid, and the rubber safety blow-out. It takes some time to get the ring to seat in place, and it will look like the new ring is way too big, but it is the correct one. Just keep working it into place until all of it seats in the grove. Some cooking oil helps. It must be pushed all the way down into the grove. After it is in place, it will likely still look a bit too large. After a couple of uses, it will look perfect, and should last many years. What a great way to make an older pot just like new.
