Initially, we were very pleased with the turner. It never melted when we set it on the pan and it was sufficiently stiff enough for our use. After some months, the silver grip that runs nearly the entire length of the handle began to feel loose. It felt like I could just pull the grip right off of the handle. It wasn't a big deal, but it made me question the build quality of Calphalon's kitchen gadgets.
After about a year, we noticed that the nylon tip/edge of the turner began to literally, flake off into our food. I don't know if through normal use, the heat started to break down the nylon, but this was very disconcerting. I wrote to Calphalon Customer Service to see what could be done.
Without going into too much detail, my experience with Calphalon Customer Service was highly disappointing. I was reasonable and set my expectations low. I was fairly certain I wouldn't get warranty support but their lack of response to my inquiries was inadequate. It's amazing how one bad experience like this can sour your entire attitude toward a company you used to think so highly of.
I am not replacing my Calphalon stainless steel pans, but I'm certainly not buying any more Calphalon kitchen gadgets. We replaced the turner with one from OXO, who I have had excellent service experiences with.

Excellent quality, good "look and feel." Adequately stiff, not wimpy. Edges are well formed, crisp and clean (no mold lines, not fuzzy). Correct angle to shaft (many aren't). Good to 400 degrees, the packaging says.Same is true for Pancake Turner.

We have several older Calphalon Nylon utensils, and they have held up well for many years. After our favorite turner/spatula fell onto a hot burner I rushed to replace it with this
nearly identical item. However, the plastic used in this version is far inferior to the
old design. As soon as it touched the pan to scramble an egg (not very hot), the edge
melted and split, leaving flakes of black plastic behind. Defective = Returned.
Sorry Calphalon, not nearly good enough.
Honest reviews on Calphalon Nylon Utensils Large Turner
after trying several styles of turners/spatulas with the 4-for-3, I have found I like a stiff spatula, the flexible ones are surprisingly worthless...which I reviewed separately. This one is stiff and has an angled front so it can really get under your food and flips nice and solid. However, it doesn't last, it is sadly the best and worst...the best spatula with the worst quality. The first problem was that even with something as simple as scrambled eggs, the front edge gets gummed up with food and is nearly impossible to get it off. After a couple months, the front angled edge chipped a huge chunk out of it, while scrambling eggs medium heat what's up with that? Then, a few weeks later the insert on the handle (the part that's is pale blue/light colored) became detached at the end by the handle/hole but not the front, so when you soak it, which you really have to do everytime you use it, it gets soaked in there. You can press it back down but whatever you try, you can't make it stay there. Too much work for a spatula/turner. What a piece of junk-from the dollar store, it would be worth it for a few uses but even with the 4-for-3 discount, it's not worth the price.
