I needed a pair of tongs that wouldn't slip from wet or greasy hands. This product is great. Strong stainless steel with rubber inserts to help with the grip. I have a long pair too that are perfect for working with outdoor grilling and smoking. These are the shorter ones and are just right for working with stove top cooking and serving. Oxo makes similar ones but I like these slightly better.

The locking system is great and I have no problem with the way it works. PULL OUT on the RING to lock and PUSH IN to UNLOCK. You can lock and unlock these one handed with your hands full using this simple but effective locking system.

I like the 16" so much for this purpose that I have stopped using most of my traditional Wok tools and just use my trusty tongs instead!
The black plastic handle guards do a good job of keeping any radiant heat off my hands when using these on the grill. I even use the 16 inchers to move hot coals and smoking wood around in my Weber smoker! The locking system is great and I have no problem with the way it works. These tongs lived up to my expectations. They are the proper length when deal within very confined hot areas. The do fit in a standard dishwasher and the locking feature is very easy to use. They do stay closed when in the drawer and certainly worth buying.
