I will not use a salad chef again. What would have happened if I had not noticed that blade missing? I panic just thinking about it. It could have cut someones mouth or went on down the throat and killed someone.
I could not find a number to notify the company so I am posting this message on this site as a warning. This could happen to anyone if it hasn't already.

I just got this for Christmas and I have used it several times. I was surprised at how easily it cut potatoes, but I did cut the potatoes into thirds before putting them in the slicer. There was no resistance at all. Cutting carrots was a little more tricky. I used the smaller slicer and it does work, but I have to push down with both hands to cut through the carrots. I have also cut onions, bell peppers, celery, olives, and even lunch meat in it with no problems. With the bigger items I have just cut them down before putting them in the salad chef. I am a little worried about how long the blades will stay this sharp, but we will have to see.Best Deals for 6 Piece Salad Chef Set - As Seen on TV product - Fastest Salad
I bought the Salad Chef yesterday. I planned to make pizza for dinner, but was still out grocery shopping by 7:30pm, so I picked up the Salad Chef to cut prep time for pizza when I reach home. I've watched the infomercial before, was really amazed by it, read lots of reviews about it from other websites, and wanted to buy it. Reviews from other websites warned about buying it online or through phone from its manufacturer, and I didn't see it in stores or here in Amazon until last week. And I thought I'd give it some more thought... until yesterday. So, what's inside the box? The basic Salad Chef set. It has 7 pieces: a bowl, a lid (green), "slicer" lid (green and white), a 1" x 1" dicing blade, a 1/2" x 1/2" dicing blade, a grater, and a recipe book. It does not include the salad spinner accessories (even the infomercial, if I remember correctly, shows that the salad spinner parts are "extra" stuff to be bought).
How did it perform? Quite well actually. I used the 1/2" x 1/2" dicing blade last night as I was making small pizzas and it did cut the veggies well (halved onions, halved bell peppers, whole olives, whole mushrooms) without squashing them. The only thing is that you have to kind of "slam" the slicer lid down to cut and it made my palm hurt a bit from slamming. But it definitely made dicing faster and I was done with pizza prep in no time (less than 5 mins) with all of the veggies nicely cut.
Cleaning was easy, too. I just sprayed water through the blades to remove small veggies that got stuck in it. The slicer lid was also easy to clean. I just used the push button on the lid while washing it under running water.
Why 4 stars? Because it works! And it's easy to clean, too. But because it also gave me palm pain, I've deducted 1 star. The whole set looks nice and sturdy and I hope it would last long.
I wish it included the slicing blade shown in the infomercial, which can cut veggies into fat strips, instead of the grater. I own a Cuisinart food processor which does the slicing (other cutting) job well but you know, just for times when I only need to slice like maybe half a bell pepper. Of course, I can also cut by knife, but I'm just saying that that slicing blade should be a basic accessory to this kitchen gadget. Hopefully, soon, Amazon will also sell the other accessories---other blades and the salad spinner---for those who wish to complete the set.
