I have this exact grinding mechanism on a different base. It is not very sharp so it takes a lot of pushing and pulling to get the beans to pass through the teeth. The grind is uneven, and the beans pop out of the hopper while grinding. The hopper is also rather small, so it takes several refills to get enough for a pot. BUT, the flavor of the coffee is superior to electric grinders.

I'm not an everyday coffee drinker, so I don't like to keep large containers around. I got it thinking it would be perfect for an occasional cup of coffee. I'd just buy a few beans & grind em up. NOT!!!! Other than not being noisy, it sucks! The thing doesn't grind well, is hard to hold onto, the little drawer doesn't hold enough even for 1 cup of coffee which is usually what I make when I do want coffee. It't is also hard to get started grinding with this thing. I'm now just using it as a decoration. And gone back to my very noisy electric one which both myself & my cat hate. I'm still looking for a good hand grinder.

If you only make enough coffee for yourself this is a great little grinder. It actually taste better than my $100 electronic burr grinder. It does make a little mess (very little)but much less than my blade and electronic burr grinder. It requires less than 2 minutes to hand grind about 3 tablespoons of coffee, but the taste is noticeable better than the electronic burr grinder, and waaayy better than the blade grinder. I have used it every day and so far no workmanship problems. But if there is, I can buy 8 of these for the price of one electronic burr grinder and make better coffee.

I have been so impressed, that I am buying another one for use at work.

After reading how the electric grinders were noisy and did not last very long, I decided to buy this beauty. The overall construction is rather cheap. The adjustment nut on the top is always coming loose, the bottom tray does not fit that well.

I am very happy with how well the grinder works, and that the whole machine did not just snap apart. After about a month of grinding you will have developed the necessary muscles and technique to grind coffee for the whole family. The first month is tiring. I would buy another one of these, they work great.
