I bought these mixing spoons (as well as the paula deen wooden turners) off amazon last month. There was sort of a laquer/finish on them, and after the FIRST USE the finish wore off and the wood looked very dry and dull. I was cooking spaghetti sauce, so maybe you aren't supposed to use them with hot dishes, but they are wooden spoons...I expect to be able to cook with them.

I have used them very lightly, and not too often, and after only a month, the wood is splintering and chipping on the ends.

Very disappointed. For the price, I was expecting better quality, but in my opinion the dollar store wooden spoons are better quality than these.

The large spoon snapped in half with normal use after about a month. The smaller one is still usable, but has stained a lot because the wood is so porous and brittle. These look beautiful as long as you never use them.

Extremely disappointed. I thought with the Paula Deen name I would be purchasing some quality spoons. A chunk of the small spoon came off almost immediately and the larger spoon has split up the middle. Terrible.

I was disappointed with the quality of the wood in the big spoon . It wasn't attractive and was very pourous and unfinished. Not a spoon I'd be proud to use. The small one was better wood and finish. I'd say your taking your chances in what you'll receive as far as the quailty of the wood. I'd read someone else's review saying the same thing but I took my chances and I'm sorry I did. I was expecting better quality from a Paula Dean signiture product.

I couldn't be more pleased than I am with these craftsman style spoons. Beautiful unfinished wood and heavy duty copper hook. Their carved forms are gererously thick giving a substantial amount of leverage for mixing. I wanted these to mix bread dough and they are perfectly suited.
