Its probably just me but I didn't take the time to determine how small a 40 oz bowl is-I just focused on "hostess-serving" aspect of the description. Its about the size of a jumbo chili bowl. I love the style and color (Paprika) but when the shipment came I thought it was a mistake because the box was so tiny! If you are looking for a piece of Fiestaware for display, this bowl is going to disappear in all but the smallest place in your kitchen. I would recommend this item if it was at least three times the size-then it would be a great statement piece for Fiesta fanatics like me. It will work fine as a bowl for black olives or a couple of bags of M&Ms.

I love Fiesta, although I was disappointed about the size of this bowl. It was much smaller than I had thought. I need to pay more attention to the size. I was hoping to use it for a fruit bowl, but it's too small. I have found other uses for it.
