I've been wanting a larger stock pot (mine is 6 qt) and took a chance when I saw this on Amazon. America's Test Kitchen recommended the Alpha stock pot and I really lucked out...it was on sale. I know I'd be happy with just about anything that arrived...but I really am impressed. The pan is quite sturdy...heavy without being too heavy to handle. There is a slight indentation in the handles that help when lifting, but the handles have a good feel to them anyway. The handle on the glass lid is a bit oval shaped and fits really well in your hand. And speaking of the lid, it fits very well on the top of the pan. It doesn't wiggle or wobble at all. The pan is a little bottom heavy and has a slight bell shape to it. So far, I've only boiled pasta and it was easy to use and to clean. I recommend it to anyone who would like a large sturdy stock pot.

I have purchased 3 Alpha stock pots so far and love them. The bottom is heavy and sits well on my stove's glass top. The glass lid on the stock pot allows me to monitor whatever I'm cooking. Very nice quality stock pots.

Just unpacked it and I was pretty impressed with this stock pot! As a cooking lover I go through lots of pots etc., and this one and all their other sizes will be a must addition to my kitchen! Buy it without thinking twice:)

I can't believe the price on this pot! I haven't used it a ton yet, but the thickness, weight, and the durability makes this pot worth a lot more than what you pay. At Walmart, their pots this size are minimum $35. I just saw one yesterday there for $40, and it wasn't nearly the same quality as this one. Not that I would buy one from there anyway, but I was curious and compared. This is the kind of cooking pot you'll find at a higher-end store of course. But you are definitely not going to pay any less than what you do for this one..that's for sure.

I really don't think you'll be sorry at all. It has a nice steam hole in the lid. The lid isn't real heavy, but the pot itself is awesome..well made. I owned a restaurant, so I can tell you..this is nice and totally worth $30. I would've paid more easily.
